The daily life of a professional photographer is managed between pre-production, production, post-production and dealing with the uncertainty of Time. Well, the list goes on about uncertainties but, if we take into account that photography is fully integrated in the art of documenting, if the photographer is not present, the moment existed but was not recorded to tell about it. It is impossible to go back in time to achieve the photograph, its like loosing the moment, and the time management between subjects, events, production, trips, etc it has to be very well managed. Time management is not directly related to focus or schedules, it is also about overcoming difficulties and find fast solutions while managing problems that were not in our plans. And no day is the same as the last. However, experience comes with practice, cautious and, above all, with being practical and assertive. In the most extreme conditions it is the difference between being on time or late… or, in the worst case scenario, not making it at all.
I know this might provoke some resentment to “wrangler lovers” and some “car experts” but to travel deep or just live a daily-life in Africa you need to be really prepared to face sudden changes on weather or even social ongoings. Before passing by this Jeep Wrangler sinking “aye aye captain” I saw a Toyota Landcruiser jammed in the mud as well… and some times the best choices comes with simpler choices and cheaper tools. Can you guess which car I using to safe pass this rain mud river?
